Image File Formats

RAW files are large and allow more post-processing, but also have to be developed in software and exported in JPEG or TIF format before being processed in the star trails program. With RAW files you can also change the white balance, an important feature to have when you’re not sure what white balance mode you prefer.
JPEG files are smaller and a can be dragged and dropped directly from the folder in the computer into the star trails processing software. The downside is that they do not allow for much post-processing.
